Sabina Floridia
From treating patients to transforming prevention.
I have always believed that prevention has the power to change lives.
My journey started in clinical practice, where I spent more than 25 years working as a dental hygienist in the Netherlands, Suriname and Italy. Those years taught me that successful prevention is not only about clinical knowledge, it is about helping people develop the skills, confidence and habits to take care of their own oral health.
That belief continues to guide everything I do today.
My journey
Throughout my career, I have always been curious about one question:
How can we make prevention more effective?
This curiosity led me beyond the dental chair into international education, professional development and prevention implementation.
As an international iTOP Lecturer, I have trained thousands of dental professionals around the world in oral self-care education and patient communication.
Today I work internationally as Global iMGi Project Manager at Curaden AG, leading the implementation of structured preventive workflows for gingival inflammation management.
Alongside this role, I founded Rethinking Prevention™, my consultancy dedicated to helping clinics, dental professionals and organisations translate prevention into everyday practice.
What drives me
The more I travelled and worked with professionals from different countries, the more I realised that the challenges are remarkably similar.
Most dental professionals already understand the importance of prevention.
The real challenge is implementation.
How do we help patients build lasting habits?
How do we make prevention a consistent part of every appointment?
How do we create systems that support both professionals and patients?
These questions continue to inspire my work every day.
Beyond clinical dentistry
I believe that great prevention begins with great professionals.
Throughout my career I have also explored topics such as professional identity, communication, behaviour change and wellbeing.
These experiences led to the development of the Happy Dental Professional Method, a project that continues to inspire dental professionals to build fulfilling, sustainable careers while delivering high-quality patient care.
Because confident, motivated professionals create better experiences for patients.
International work
Today my work includes consultancy, lectures, mentoring and international implementation projects.
I collaborate with universities, professional associations, dental clinics and industry partners who share the ambition of strengthening prevention and improving oral health.
Whether I am speaking at an international congress, supporting a practice team or developing a new implementation framework, my objective remains the same:
to make prevention visible, valued and successful.
A personal note
When I moved from the Netherlands to Italy as a young dental hygienist, I never imagined where that decision would lead.
Every stage of my journey, from clinical practice and international education to project management and consultancy, has reinforced one belief:
The future of dentistry is not only about better treatments.
It is about helping more people keep their health through better prevention.
