Prevention is the future of successful dentistry.
For many years, patient instruction and motivation has often been seen as something that happens at the end of the appointment, or as an additional service offered to patients, not as part of treatment.
I see it differently.
Prevention is not simply about removing plaque or teaching someone how to brush. It is about helping people develop the knowledge, skills and habits they need to maintain lifelong oral health.
When coaching patients in oral self care skills, becomes an integral part of care, treatment changes. Communication changes. The patient experience changes. And the role of the dental professional changes too.
That is why I created Rethinking Prevention™.
Why Rethinking Prevention?
After almost 30 years in clinical practice and many years of international education, I realised that one question kept returning:
Why is prevention still so difficult to implement, even when we know how important it is?
The answer is not a lack of knowledge.
More often, it is the absence of a clear framework, practical implementation and effective communication.
Rethinking Prevention™ was created to bridge that gap.
It brings together clinical experience, behavioural science and implementation strategies to help prevention become part of everyday dentistry, not just an ideal we talk about.
What I do
Through Rethinking Prevention™, I work with:
- Dental professionals
- Dental clinics
- Professional associations
Together we translate prevention into daily practice through consultancy, mentoring, lectures and implementation projects.
Every collaboration is different, but the objective is always the same:
to make prevention visible, valued and successful.
My approach
I believe prevention succeeds when three elements come together.
Clinical excellence
Providing evidence-based care that focuses not only on treatment but also on long-term oral health.
Behaviour change
Helping patients develop practical skills and sustainable habits instead of simply giving instructions.
Implementation
Supporting professionals and organisations in embedding prevention into their daily workflow so that it becomes consistent, measurable and sustainable.
Beyond the individual patient
My journey started with helping one patient at a time.
Today, my work focuses on helping professionals, clinics and organisations create a greater impact by implementing prevention on a larger scale.
Whether through international education, consultancy or implementation projects, my goal remains exactly the same:
to help more people benefit from better prevention.
My work today
Alongside Rethinking Prevention™, I work internationally as Global iMGi Project Manager at Curaden AG, leading the implementation of structured preventive workflows for gingival inflammation management.
This international role continually enriches my consultancy by connecting scientific evidence, clinical practice and real-world implementation across different countries and healthcare systems.
My belief
I believe the future of dentistry will not be defined only by new technologies or materials.
It will be defined by how successfully we help people take ownership of their own oral health.
Because prevention is not just something we do.
It is something we build together.
